Dr. Conrad Murray: Will Putting Jackson on Trial Get Him Off?

Who would have dreamed Los Angeles prosecutors who once sent detectives all over the world to investigate charges Michael Jackson was a pedophile would now be fighting to defend the late pop star’s reputation, trying to keep damning evidence against him they once worked so hard to collect…OUT of court?
Yet, in the manslaughter trial of Jackson doctor Conrad Murray in Los Angeles, where a jury pool was selected this week, you won’t hear much about the pop star’s past drug abuse —- or past molestation trials and tribulations from 1993 to 2005, when Jackson was acquitted of sexually abusing a 13 year old former cancer patient.
What you will hear are charges his $150,000 a month doctor allegedly failed to monitor Jackson in his own bedroom, where he died of a drug overdose in 2009 from a powerful anesthetic called Propofol, aka Diprivan, a milky white fluid one anesthesiologist tells me is known to be quietly abused by some medical professionals for its fleeting sexual high. He called the short-acting hypnotic ideal for surgery if given in a hospital setting, but risky without vital sign monitors and a doctor watching them.

With Casey Anthony still flirting with a possible deal that could earn her millions of dollars posing for Hustler magazine, one lawyer says there’s one thing publisher Larry Flynt could do to seal the deal —and make it a win for Team Casey and its vilified vixen: give her a job.
“It wouldn’t cost him any more that he was willing to pay already,” says Ray Giudice an Atlanta defense lawyer who has structured many a probation deal for criminal clients, “and it would help satisfy one big part of her one year probation, which requires she get, and keep, a job.” Read the rest of this entry »

Was the Casey Anthony jury correct in convicting her of only lying to police? Did the prosecution fail to make a solid case that proved her guilt beyond reasonable doubt? Or was the defense simply brilliant in a bumbling way as it threw spaghetti against the wall that stuck? Was the media unfair in coverage that demonized Casey?
Indeed, says Anthony lawyer Cheney Mason. Before he was caught on video tape giving the media the finger at the Casey lawyers victory party following her acquital on all charges related to killing her daughter, Mason unloaded a double barrel blast at hostile hosts and celebrity TV legal experts.

It took O. J. Simpson’s Los Angeles jury four hours to reach a verdict in the 1995 double murder case against the football star-turned actor—Not Guilty.
It took the Casey Anthony jury twice as long –10 hours – to find her NOT guilty of murder one…and all counts related to killing her two year old daughter, another celebrity trial where a speedy verdict spelled acquital for murder.
In both cases, a jury backed who they saw as the underdog. In Simpson’s case, lawyer Johnny Cochran’s played on the strained feelings between the African American community and the LAPD, OJ as underdog…In Casey Anthony’s case, Jose Baez portrayed her as a molestation victim, proved her parents liars and pokeD holes in prosecution experts to create reasonable doubt…A defendant ganged up on in a country that embraces underdogs and redeemed sinners.
Anthony was found guilty on the lesser charge of lying to a law enforcement officer, and could be released as early as Thursday and given credit for time served, her lawyer, Cheney Mason said, for a charge that carries a likely prison term shorter than time she’s already spent in the Orange County Florida jail.
“Her lies worked,” said one TV pundit, as shockwaves spread from the courtroom to the Orlando streets. Crowds waving anti-Casey signs and demanding “Justice for Caylee” were transformed into a sort of Zombie-shuffle, a scene earily reminiscent of the quiet shock, then public outcry in white America after Simpson acquital split the nation along racial lines.
